About

Smiling Red PumpkinI am a mildly autistic individual, and though I could be described by the more typical term of having been diagnosed with asperger’s syndrome, I prefer the term mildly autistic as being more efficient and through loyalty to those who do not qualify as “High Functioning.” I feel that it is important to emphasize that I am indeed an autistic individual, though upon meeting me I might perhaps seem like just another quirky guy.

And that is the point. The stigma of Autism has largely been set in popular culture through movies like “Rain Man”, which only portray the most extreme and shocking forms of autism. Autism is a range, a spectrum disorder, and there are those individuals that, though mildly autistic, are assumed to be normal, functioning adults possessed of a uniquely high level of intelligence.

I live in South Texas, and am currently saving up money so that I may buy a plot of land build a house on it. I currently work in a minimum wage position as a Cashier at Walmart, and I feel that the routine of working there has helped me to put more than enough order into my life. Above all, I wish to be understood. I wish for people to hear my words, and truly understand my meaning. If I can so make that connection, then I will be happy.

God Bless,
Jose Luis Nunez,  Autistic Individual(AI)

  1. I hope you don’t mind but I’ve nominated you for the Sunshine Award, hope that’s ok. The nomination is here http://butimbeautiful.wordpress.com/2012/06/04/and-on-the-red-carpet-tonight-we-have/. I’ve passed it on to five people including you, but I believe there are official rules, this website lists them, http://websitesgiveback.com/blog/http:/websitesgiveback.com/blog/the-sunshine-award/. I haven’t actually obeyed them all (yet).
